According to PROFILM data, direct investment last year reached <strong>\u20ac36,203,035.95,<\/strong> compared to more than <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/59cf1308-9881-45fe-9cdb-558fcfa51d48.filesusr.com\/ugd\/9edf2e_0cbdf3f48d4b42a7a7f886c1c14c98e9.pdf\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">132 million euros that our country received in 2019.<\/a> Hiring data also suffered significantly as only <strong>4,413<\/strong> contracts were signed compared to <strong>13,600<\/strong> the previous year, which meant a contribution to Social Security of <strong>4,021,831.69<\/strong> \u20ac, compared to more than twelve million euros collected in 2019. Thus, PROFILM partners managed to attract <strong>27.39%<\/strong> of investments compared to the previous year. Only <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.elranchito.es\/es\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">El Ranchito<\/a>, a company specialized in visual effects, has managed to maintain the work pace given its special characteristics that allow for online work.   <\/p>\n\n<p id=\"viewer-c91m5\">\u201cIt has been a terrible year for everyone, in which most companies have really struggled. The closure of borders with the US and the difficulties of movement within the EU prevented the mobility of actors and actresses but also of the rest of the technical team essential to carry out any project\u201d said <strong>Adri\u00e1n Guerra<\/strong>, president of PROFILM. Undoubtedly, the most affected community has been the <strong>Canary Islands<\/strong>, where the international filming sector was becoming a prototype industry complementary to tourism. \u201cIn the Canary Islands, a year later, we are still waiting for the definition of the limit of return on incentives to which we are entitled and which is currently lower than in the rest of Spain. Under these conditions, it will be impossible to recover from last year&#8217;s nightmare given the lack of security with which we work\u201d, commented <strong>Juan Cano<\/strong>, Vice President of PROFILM.  <\/p>\n\n<div style=\"height:24px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"740\" height=\"493\" src=\"https:\/\/profilm.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/noticias-cerrado.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2088\" srcset=\"https:\/\/profilm.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/noticias-cerrado.jpg 740w, https:\/\/profilm.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/noticias-cerrado-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 740px) 100vw, 740px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n<div style=\"height:24px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n<p id=\"viewer-69s9p\">The increase in fiscal incentives approved by the Government last May contributed to heightening the interest in Spain from major studios and producers worldwide. However, the closure of borders with the UK due to the pandemic, coupled with the increase in procedures for the transfer of professionals from that country caused by Brexit, is making it difficult for PROFILM member companies to recover. <\/p>\n\n<p id=\"viewer-chs5u\">\u201cWe trust that the processing of the Royal Decree-Law on cultural aid for COVID-19 will contribute to improving the regulations that govern us to guarantee both investors and Spanish companies the legal security that we so demand.
